what is it with crystallines?
yeah there rare (although seems to be a lot more in the sale forums lately) and as such expensive.but the thing i don't get is how even the usualy considered crap (such as hexed,v/s hexed and <50%) with high reqs can get some seriously silly bids as long as they have perfect sundering and fortitude.yet those where ppl leave as found get hardly any bids if any even if they have nice dmg mods.so my main confusion is do the bidders thing sun and fort cost 100's of k each or do they just not realise the simplisity of buying a cheaper 1 and adding there own mods and in doing so save a bundle.also why is it always sundering and fortitude which i think imho are crap mods personaly i would much rather have armor over a bit more hp and anything over sundering.what do you guys/gals think do you agree or am i missing something here.

It's just - as you said - that the skin is rare. And since the very beginning of the game the crystaline has had a cult status. So a lot of people (hey including us right now) talk about them. The more talk there is, the more attention to the rarity, the more desire to have one. I know I bought one early in the game (I've played since the beginning) and it sits tucked away in my storage bin since the stats are awful.

First, I believe you are mistaking the reason for the bids, I frequent the high end forum and the bids are always based on a couple of things, damage mod for sure and the requirement of the sword...the added mods mean nothing to purchasers, I assure you. Why many more on the trades? Simple, people are to some extent selling their collections to make room/save up gold/ectos for ch 2, this also explains the added mods, they were not put there for the sale but rather were weapons they were previously using and those were the mods they liked...trust me, people with the kind of cash that is necessary to buy these high end weapons know what mods sell for and won't be dazzled by a perfect sundering hilt

There's been an influx of Crystallines, Dwarven and Serpent axes lately because the locations of them has become much more well known. More people are farming them now. The answer to where can be found in the forums. Just need to do some digging.
